I also made some snowflake magnets too. So easy & fast! Plus, my girls just love this kind of stuff! Yep, we're doing some pretty simple projects around here this week!

FHE Magnet Board
So I'm on a 12" x 12" magnet board kick right now! {Scroll down to see my Advent Calendar Magnet Board that I shared yesterday.} I just started to think of all of the awesome types of boards that would be useful-family home evening (FHE) board, recipe board, note board, regular magnet board, etc. We don't have an FHE board in our house so I thought this was the perfect time & way to make one. {FYI-FHE is one night a week that we spend together as a family, without outside influences, talking about our beliefs or doing fun activities together.} And I love the size of this board because it doesn't take up too much space. I'm going to hang it on a wall in our office/guest room/craft room & then we can just bring it down every Monday night when we do our FHE. I made this one the same way as the advent calendar. I started by making the design that I wanted in My Digital Studio & then printing it up at Costco. It was so easy & I love how it turned out!
Here it is:
Then I made some-yep, you guessed it-bottle cap magnets to keep track of who is in charge of what for that night's FHE. I made them to say Dad, Mom, Kaylee & Aidynn. This way we can easily move them around each week to change what everyone's assignments are.
Here's the board with the magnets on it:

I am so excited to use this next week!

Countdown to Christmas
I am so excited that I finished this project right in time to start the countdown to Christmas! This was pretty easy to do too! I started by making a 12" x 12" scrapbook page in My Digital Studio. Then I had it printed at Costco. Next I grabbed one of my white 12" x 12" frames which I repurposed for this project. I tied some cute blue striped ribbon around one side of the frame, then I put the photo in the frame & put a 12" x 12" metal sheet behind it.
Here's a close-up of the countdown circles:
Then I made some bottle cap magnets, one for each day of our countdown to Christmas! I stamped my images, punched them out with my 1" circle punch, glued them inside of bottle caps, sealed them with some casting resin, waited for them to dry & then attached magnets to the back (top) of each one.
Here's what it will look like on Christmas with all of the magnets attached:
And a close-up of the magnets:
I have a cute tin that I am keeping the magnets in right next to the advent calendar. Each day until Christmas I am going to let my girls pick one out to put on the advent calendar to help us count down! I really love how this turned out!
And...only 23 more days until Christmas!

Autumn Bottle Cap Magnets
Have you been seeing all of these bottle cap magnets around on crafty blogs lately? I thought they were super cool right away & knew that I wanted to figure out how to make some. It seemed easy enough-get some bottle caps, punch out designer paper or punch out a stamped image using the 1" circle punch, seal them inside the bottle cap & then glue a magnet onto the back. The problem I'm having is what to use to seal them with. I was trying to avoid using casting resin if possible because that stuff scares me a little! But, I tried using my Crystal Effects from Stampin' Up! & even some Mod Podge Dimensional Magic & I haven't liked the results with either one. It seems like both of those make my stamped images run & it looks awful. And the Mod Podge Dimensional Magic made lots of bubbles. I mean lots. Even after I popped the little bubbles that were there to begin with, when I came back later, somehow more bubbles had appeared!
Well, I made some autumn magnets with my favorite autumn designer paper & the Mod Podge Dimensional Magic. They look pretty cute even though every single one has bubbles in it.
Here's a close-up of one of them:
I guess I will have to break down & try the casting resin. Wish me luck!

Halloween Week: Pumpkin Magnets

Yep, I used my Big Shot again for another Halloween project! Honestly, I know that the Big Shot is expensive, but I have already made so many awesome projects with that thing, it was definitely worth the money. It is so handy! I love that it cuts through almost anything too. Ok, so my project for today is pumpkin magnets. This takes 5 minutes tops! Stampin' Up! sells magnetic sheets that you can run through your Big Shot. I've found that it's easiest & saves you more magnet sheet if you cut out small pieces with scissors to the size you need for the shape you are die cutting. With a thick material like the magnet sheets it's best to only use one layer at a time with the Big Shot. Then I just ran the magnet pieces through the Big Shot using the Pumpkins #2 die. I also ran some orange with teeny tiny white polka dots designer paper through the same die (I know my picture isn't great so it's hard to see the designer paper). Then I just peeled off the paper on the magnet pumpkin shapes to expose the adhesive & stuck my orange paper right onto the magnet. I also ran some black card stock through for the faces of the pumpkins & then glued them right onto the orange paper. Now our fridge is even decorated for Halloween! My girls love seeing these pumpkins up there too! These would be fun to make if you had a large magnet board or something like that too for October.
To see other magnets I've made click here.
This is my last post of Halloween Week too. I hope you enjoyed stopping by & maybe you were even inspired to get a little crafty for Halloween! I just might have a couple more Halloween ideas to show you too this month so check back soon!

Flower Magnets

Yes, another reason to purchase a Big Shot-magnets! Stampin' Up! now sells magnet sheets that you can run through your Big Shot machine with your favorite dies to make magnets. I love this! I made these magnets the other day & it was so fast & easy! The magnet sheets have adhesive on one side so all you have to do is peel off the paper & stick your designer paper right on it. I embellished my flowers with more layers of card stock in scallop circles or circles & then stuck a cute button right in the center. I must say my fridge is looking very pretty now! It would be fun to make different magnets depending on the season too-pumpkins at Halloween, leave for fall, snowflakes for winter, etc. Some of these would make a cute little gift too!
