Pocket Calendar Cover

Hi blog friends! Can you believe that my baby is 2 weeks old already?!?!?! I just can't believe it! Time flies with a newborn! Even though those sleepless nights seem never ending, LOL! Well, we are slowly adjusting around here. Quinn is starting to sleep a little better at night which is nice. Hopefully we'll get onto some sort of schedule around here soon. I actually had a moment the other day to do a little paper crafting project. It's nothing fancy, but I thought I would share it with you here.

But first, a photo of Quinn at one week old:

Now onto my project. I don't know why, but I always have to have a paper calendar that I can write on every year. I do have a slight obsession with calendars. And with lists. I'm a nerd like that. Maybe it helps me to at least feel like I'm organized! Well, I like the monthly kind of calendar where you can see the whole month at once. I have an iPhone, but I just can't seem to get into the calendar on it. I think because I can't see the whole month at the same time. Anyway, I always buy one of those cheap pocket calendars with the plastic cover on them. You can probably find one for $1 at a dollar store, but I got this one for not much more than that at Target. A lot of them aren't very cute either, but they're cheap & a great size for my purse (or now, diaper bag).

I like to make a new cover for my pocket calendar, though, to make it so much cuter! This is so fast & easy too & yes, it's not necessary, but it's just so much prettier when I pull it out now! All I do is take the calendar out of the plastic cover. I open it flat & measure it onto some pretty designer paper. Then I cut the paper. I add an embellishment to the front cover-in this case I just stamped my initial & punched it out with my circle punch & then layered that onto a scallop circle that I punched out & glued this onto the cover. Then slip the cover & the calendar back into the plastic case-done!

So fast & easy & look how cute it is:

These make a great little gift too, especially for teachers!

2012 Wall Calendar

Happy New Year!

I finished my 2012 wall calendar right in time for the start of a new year. Now all I have to do is wait for it to come in the mail! Every year I create a new wall calendar in My Digital Studio. I love this digital software, so easy to use & it has such cute images by Stampin' Up! I love that the calendar pages are full 12" x 12" sizes too because then when the year is over I keep the top scrapbook pages of the calendar & stick them in our family scrapbook. It makes a really nice way to have a monthly year-in-review of our favorite photos & memories from each year. This year I kept my calendar pretty simple. Nothing fancy here, but I still like how it turned out & thought I would share some of my favorite pages with you.

I {heart} Calendars

Yes, I'm kinda an organizational nerd like that (or I try to be organized anyway)! But I love calendars! I love that a new year brings a brand new, empty calendar for me to fill out. I have 4 calendars that I use regularly. Obsessed much? Yes.

So I have a desktop calendar, of course, which I keep on the computer desk in our office/craft room/guest room that's really just a calendar to use for reference when we're in there working. I also have a small planner that I keep in the diaper bag (or in my purse on the rare occasion that I carry one of those instead) so that I always know what we have going on when I'm not at home. Then there's a calendar I print out & stick on our fridge each that I use to write our appointments, etc. on so that the whole family (ok, mostly it's for my hubby) knows what we've got scheduled. Lastly, this one I just added to my calendar collection last year, is a large wall calendar. I make it in My Digital Studio & have it printed through Stampin' Up! I use my absolute favorite photos from each month of the previous year to create a scrapbook page at the top. Then the bottom, the actual calendar part, I fill in only with birthdays, anniversaries & holidays. This calendar I do not write on, but it hangs on the wall in our kitchen looking beautiful! And it's fun to look back each month on what we were doing last year at that time & it really shows how much our girls have grown. Plus, it adds a little bit of seasonal decor to our home. I love that the pages are 12 x 12 also so that at the end of the year I can just cut the scrapbook page at the top out & stick it in an album. (Just a note here: The calendar cover is printed on the back of the scrapbook page for January but it is upside down, so I just print out the calendar cover at Costco as a 12 x 12 photo print & stick it at the front of the new year.) So now I have a nice running album of our favorite memories for each month of the year. And I usually end up creating my calendar the week after Christmas when the craziness of the holidays has died down. It doesn't take long at all, especially since you can use a pre-designed calendar template if you want to. To make it really easy this year I just simply used a polka dot scrapbook paper for each month, just changing the colors to correspond to the season. I also just matted each photo in white & I used a simple font in black throughout the calendar. Saved me a lot of time & it looks really good!

I thought I would share some of my favorite pages from my new 2011 wall calendar with you. It was so hard to choose because I just love them all!

2010 Digital Calendar

Wow it's been a long time since I've posted anything! Happy New Year! Well, you've probably realized by now that I {LOVE} calendars! I made the desktop calendar for on my computer desk, I print out a calendar page each month to hang on the fridge & write all of our appointments & happenings on & I made a digital calendar to hang on the wall by the phone. This one really is just to look pretty in my kitchen! That & the fact that I am addicted to making projects in My Digital Studio! I made this calendar so that for each month in 2010 it has pictures from that month but from the previous year-2009. I'm hoping that then I can just cut off the top portion of the calendar page & stick it in a scrapbook for 2009. Does this make sense? :) So below are my favorite calendar pages. And this first one is the cover which I will put in the scrapbook album as well. This was so fast & easy to make with My Digital Studio! And I love that I can add birthdays, holidays, or whatever else I want to right in My Digital Studio onto the calendar-so cute!

January Calendar Page

Last year I started printing out my own calendar pages to stick on the fridge & write on with all of our family happenings. I would just type up a calendar in Microsoft Word, print it out & then stamp the images I wanted all around it. They looked really cute! Well, I was so excited to see that some of the new My Digital Studio downloads are for making calendars! Yay! Now I can make them even faster by just doing it all on the computer & then printing it out. And they'll still be just as cute! I also love that there are so many stamps that you can use to fill the calendar with too-"bday," "appt," & holidays to name just a few. Here's the January 2010 calendar page that I made in the program:

Then I just printed it out on my home computer. The colors look great & everything! I took a picture of it so you can see what it looks like printed out too:

2010 Desktop Calendar

I made some of these super quick & easy desktop calendars last year & they were a big hit. I decided to make some again this year, but just changed them up a little. All of the images are from the Holiday Blitz stamp set (except for the Easter egg) & I just repeated the same layout for each month, only switching the colors, so this was such an easy project. And the polka dot paper is from Papertrey Ink-love the colors! I typed up the calendar pages & printed them out on my computer too which was also fast & easy. Then the calendar page is held in one of those cheap plastic picture frames (I got them at Walmart). Then I tie it all together with a pretty ribbon! This would make a great Christmas gift!
